Teacher Education… resources and news (Dec)

Sifted out these snippets with particular ref. for teacher education

* Have you seen this site?
Gold dust:  Resources for Teacher Educators
‘The resources here are taken from the LSIS Teaching and Learning Programme and were developed with teachers, teacher educators and national education organisations…’

*Free technology for teachers
A blog site spotted by colleague Martin H. of NE Scotland RSC.  I particularly liked the entry on a Google Guide for Teachers.  Loads of links and ideas through this site.

* I’ve included this here as well as in the Strategy section as it might be quite significant for teacher education:  The Higher Education Academy (HEA) is to review the professional standards framework
Browne’s report emphasised the importance of teacher training… what are the implications for HE in FE of recommendations that the HEA should accredit such training when they don’t recognise QTLS?  See this site.  And join in the consultation here

*And just a note to let you know that we [ JISC RSC NW ] are working together with colleagues at the Teacher Education Advancement Network (TEAN – based at the University of Cumbria) towards collaborating over support for Teacher Education in the the FE sector.  News of links and activities soon…
